Family Therapy in Colorado

Addiction is a disease that affects the entire family. At Healing Pines Recovery, we strive to assist in the process of rehabilitation for the entire family system. We do this by offering guidance, support, and family counseling, while also providing referrals for nearby family recovery services you can benefit from.

Family members and loved ones of our clients are encouraged to visit our treatment center on Sundays. On this day, we have visiting hours for four hours. During this time, family members can meet one-on-one with our trained therapists, or can participate in family therapy with the the residents involved. This helps encourage effective communication and influences aftercare planning, discussions, and healing.

At Healing Pines, an inpatient rehab in Colorado, we are looking to serve our local community and beyond. Regardless of where you are in Colorado or not, contact us to learn more about Colorado family therapy.

What Is Family Therapy?

Family therapy is a type of psychotherapy that can improve communication between family members and resolve conflicts. It is typically short-term, and in our case, it works in conjunction with substance abuse treatment. Family members may be invited to participate, and only those who are able or willing to come need to be present for counseling sessions.

We also implement CRAFT services into our family therapy programs. CRAFT stands for community reinforcement and family training and has been shown to be successful in reducing a substance abuser’s use of drugs and alcohol.

Unlike other forms of family therapy where the individual with the problem is targeted and treated, CRAFT works to help the CRO or concerned significant other so that they can help the IP or identified patient.

The goals of CRAFT include:

  • Teaching the concerned significant other to adjust their usual behaviors and expectations towards the identified patient
  • Decreasing the use of substances and addictive behaviors of the identified individual
  • Motivate the identified patient to seek treatment
  • Show them the importance of self-care

The treatment plan will depend on the family situation. Our family therapy program in Colorado can teach you skills to deepen the connection between your family members and get through difficult times. The things you and your family will learn provide long-term resolutions that you can take into the future.

Different Roles

Family Roles in Addiction

One of the biggest factors with addiction in a family environment is codependency. A codependent relationship is one in which an individual structures their life around pleasing someone else. The other person structures their life around being pleased, creating a negative loop.

Family therapists and counselors in Colorado work to identify and correct unhealthy relationships that foster addiction. Here are some of the more problematic roles within the family:

Who Needs Family Therapy?

In this case, a family might need therapy when an individual in said family is struggling with addiction, affecting other people in the family.

However, there are other scenarios where family therapy might be needed. Such as:

  • Empty nest
  • Career change
  • Diagnosis of a chronic illness
  • Loss of a family member

Or, possibly one family member is struggling:

  • Trauma
  • Mental illness, like anxiety or depressions
  • Financial strain

At Healing Pines Recovery, our goal in family therapy in Colorado is to work with families affected by addiction and substance abuse. We work to strengthen relationships and communication, identify roles, and learn to handle conflict healthily.

We strive to create a family that is once again filled with love, compassion, respect, and a family that supports one another. If your family is affected by addiction, our therapists and trained team of family counselors are here to help. Our trained family therapists want to see your family succeed just as much as you do.

The Benefits

Benefits of Family Therapy

Research has demonstrated that family therapy for individuals with substance use disorders provide a number of benefits to them and the family dynamic.

Some benefits to family therapy for SUDs include:

The leadership and staff were committed to my success.

Paul is a man of integrity which flows through his team. I have been to other recovery programs and HPR stands far above them all. The small group structure offers a more intimate and personalized experience. This was so much more beneficial to my recovery than facilities preaching a "one-size-fits-all" solution to larger and fragmented groups. It was like having personal and knowledgeable therapists dedicated to me for a full month! They went out of their way to understand the root of my challenges and construct a path for improvement that is unique and relatable to me. This was a huge benefit!

It saved my life, in every sense.

I spent a month at Healing Pines Recovery. The actual location itself is unreal. A beautiful cabin lodge, with gorgeous scenery. The rooms are large, queen beds, very comfortable! Great bathrooms with great showers! There is a pool table, slam jam, (Christine! 😉 frisbee golf, and daily access to a nearby gym. The property also has a pickle ball court that was used daily, Zoey the counselor beat us men constantly!

Clay M

My experience with Healing Pines Recovery has been wonderful.

My husband was their client, and they helped him be able to help himself. He is doing amazing! I think the combination of counseling, physical labor, meditation, AA, and just the beauty of the place itself all had a very positive impact on him. They really cared about him, and that did not stop just because he came home. Also they have counseling for the families and it has really helped me a lot. Heather is awesome! I thank God that we had them in our lives when we were most vulnerable.

Susan M

We wanted to share our gratitude to the staff.

Our son was under the care of Healing Pines recently and we wanted to share our gratitude to the staff. There were many challenges in his pursuing treatment, and thankfully Paul and Heather C helped us navigate all of them skillfully with patience and compassion.

You'll get your life back!

Healing Pines Recovery is/was instrumental in setting me up for long term success in my recovery journey. I've been to treatment centers in the past and HPR is nothing like anything I've attended before. They're very small, intimate, and hands-on approach to recovery was exactly what I was looking for when seeking treatment. I knew that a large, one size fits all program like those offered by many other treatment centers in Colorado wouldn't provide me with the help I desperately needed. Paul and his Team are incredible and I would highly recommend HPR to anyone who needs help starting their recovery journey. Big shout out to James for all of his guidance during my time at HPR. His grace, knowledge, understanding, and direction were/are key to my continued success in recovery. One HUGE piece of the puzzle I love is the after care I've received from HPR... I am in constant contact with Paul, James, and many other staff members through the their alumni programs and it has helped me so much with life after HPR. This program was truly a miracle in my life and I know it will be for many other men struggling with addiction and/or alcoholism. You'll get your life back!

This is truly a great recovery facility.

My learning experience here was something I’ll take with me throughout my whole life. The staff here will always be a part of my family and I am beyond thankful for everything they have done and continue to do for my well-being.

I can't speak more highly of Healing Pines Recovery & Addiction Center.

It is located in a beautiful Colorado location with lots of outdoor activities and fresh air. They have a very knowledgeable and professional staff that goes above and beyond to meet your needs.

Riley K

I couldn’t have been at a more amazing place to begin this journey.

Seriously an amazing place. Everything from how beautiful the house and the property it sits on down to every person staffed there was nothing less than perfect. More than highly recommended in every sense. If you’re reading this and trying to find the right place for treatment and recovery I would absolutely look no further. Everyone’s recovery is different and we all need a comfortable place with people we can trust through this battle, healing pines understood that everyone’s path is different and they 100% cater to that. I couldn’t have been any luckier with finding Healing Pines. I won’t go any deeper and start to thank everyone there individually, But I want to express my gratitude to everyone on the HEALING PINES TEAM. Without you all, my path in sobriety would not look anywhere near the way it looks today. Seriously from the bottom of my heart thank you!

Colorado Family Therapy with Healing Pines Recovery

Family therapy can take many forms in our addiction treatment program. In most cases, the whole family meets with a therapist together, but sometimes only part of the family meets, or in atypical cases, each person undergoes their own individual therapy.

Each session ranges for about an hour and may look different depending on the therapist and family dynamic. For example, an entire family therapy session would involve talking about the family’s individual needs and feelings and how they are affecting one another. On the other hand, another meeting may take more of an educational angle where individuals will learn how to communicate effectively and improve their listening skills to prevent misunderstanding.
