Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as an effective approach to treat addiction. The therapy is used to not only treat substance abuse, but also depression, anxiety and other similar disorders. It is a type of psychotherapy designed to reconstruct dysfunctional behaviors and thoughts by talking to the patient and singling out negative emotions. CBT is considered as a solution-oriented type of talk therapy, based on the principle that perceptions and thoughts influence one’s behavior. A feeling of distress can warp a person’s perception of reality. The therapy works to determine whether the harmful thoughts are close to reality or not, devising strategies to help the patient overcome them.

Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (dbt)

Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy. It is the identification and modification of negative thinking, and also encourages positive behavioral changes.

Dialectical therapy refers to bringing together two opposites: acceptance and change. The combination brings better results than just one. One of its fundamental aspects is the acceptance of patients’ experiences, which allows therapists to treat them better.

Standard comprehensive DBT has the following parts:

  • Individual therapy
  • Group skills training
  • Phone coaching, for emergencies between sessions
  • Consultation group for health care providers to discuss patient care

Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy emdr

Many alcoholics and addicts suffer from at least one type of trauma. EMDR is helpful in healing people affected by trauma or other forms of distress.

Being active in addiction usually leads people through a spiral of distressing life experiences, for themselves and their loved ones. We have trained and experienced therapists who specialize in EMDR Therapy.

EMDR is an organized therapy that prompts patients to focus on a traumatic memory for a little while, along with bilateral simulation (eye movements). This helps with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma.
