The body naturally produces its own form of opioid: endogenous opioids. Inside your brain are opioid receptors that bind to the naturally produced opioids. These compounds are designed to do things like:
Under normal circumstances, you might exercise, during which you are causing yourself mild pain, but you don’t necessarily feel the pain and instead feel a bit of pleasure. This is an example of those naturally occurring opioids at work.
With heroin, it is thought that the synthetic opioids bind to the same location. However, the impact that heroin has on the brain and, subsequently, the body is much more intense compared to endogenous opioids. This means you get a higher dose of pain management and pleasure, with reduced heart rates, breathing, and sleepiness. For this reason, prescription versions of heroin, like morphine, have been used for medical purposes.
However, outside of medical settings, the use of any opioid derivative, especially heroin, comes with great risks. The longer you avoid heroin rehab in Colorado, the more likely you are to experience short and long-term symptoms.

Heroin withdrawal has severe and dangerous withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms can be better managed with FDA-approved medication at a Colorado heroin addiction treatment center.
These withdrawal symptoms should be managed by a professional treatment facility. Heroin withdrawal symptoms are incredibly painful because of the way heroin disrupts your brain chemistry and changes natural levels of dopamine, opioid receptor activity, and other endorphins. Without heroin, your brain will start to receive pain signals and, at the same time, be unable to naturally produce endorphins that manage pain.
While the initial withdrawal symptoms can be managed within several days, feelings of depression and severe Cravings can last several weeks. The longer you have struggled with Heroin addiction, the more likely you are to experience vomiting, sweating, and diarrhea for weeks or months after you get clean as your body releases all the built-up toxins.
Heroin withdrawal symptoms will begin within a few hours of the last dose and include things like:
Within the first twenty-four hours, many of the withdrawal symptoms you experience will be mild and increase in their severity according to your history of substance abuse.
Within the first thirty-six hours, you are in the most dangerous part of the detox process. This is often the point where people relapse if they don’t have professional help. At our facility, we can help you transition through your most intense withdrawal symptoms, manage the physical and prepare you for the psychological.
Over the next several days, the drugs will be flushed from your system entirely, and your symptoms will begin to taper. If you have struggled with long-term substance abuse, this is the point at which we can help you deal with concurrent physical or mental health problems.

When you come to our facility for treatment, we will start with an assessment to determine what needs you have. This assessment might determine the best course of action, be it regular heroin addiction treatment, MAT, trauma treatment, or dual diagnosis treatment.
Healing Pines specializes in residential men’s only treatment for heroin addiction. Our heroin treatment center in Colorado is located outside of any major city, far enough away from distractions that you can let yourself relax without any outside stress. Designed as a rustic ranch, each client can enjoy top-of-the-line amenities along with a range of daily therapy sessions and services during their stay.
With heroin addiction, we start with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for detox. The detox process comes with high risk, and symptoms begin within hours of your last dose. With our heroin treatment center in Colorado, you will be under medical supervision the entire time, with professionals who can administer medication, check vitals, and respond to unexpected complications. We work hard to prepare you for the heroin detox timeline by explaining what symptoms we anticipate and when. You can transition into sobriety in a comfortable and safe environment.
If we determine that there is a history of trauma, we can offer heroin addiction treatment that bears that in mind. Our trauma and addiction treatment uses additional steps and trained professionals to avoid re-traumatization during any sessions or services we provide.
For those clients with co-existing mental health disorders, our Colorado heroin addiction treatment center offers dual diagnosis treatment as well. With our dual diagnosis treatment, you can receive the following:
With our professional heroin rehab in Colorado, we can not only keep you comfortable and dignified during these first several days and weeks, but we can help your body and brain recuperate from the effects of hero independence. We can work with you to treat any lingering mental health issues you might have using dual diagnosis programs and offer nutritional help as part of our body and mind services so that you can rebuild your physical and mental strength concurrently.
