Transitioning from Detox to Rehab in Colorado: Your Next Step Toward Recovery

Healing Pines Recovery - pine icon

Moving from Stabilization to Lasting Healing with Healing Pines Recovery

Recovery begins with a single act of courage — choosing to stop and seek help. For many men, that journey starts in detox, where the body releases substances and begins to stabilize. But detox is only the first chapter of recovery. True, lasting healing happens in the days and weeks that follow — when structure, therapy, and community help men rebuild from the inside out. At Healing Pines Recovery, we provide the next level of care after detox through our men’s-only Residential Treatment Program. While we do not perform medical detox on site, we partner closely with trusted, licensed detox centers across Colorado to ensure every man transitions safely and seamlessly into long-term treatment. You don’t have to navigate this next step alone. We’ll help coordinate care, manage logistics, and welcome you into a therapeutic environment built for genuine recovery.

Detox Is the First Step — Not the Finish Line

Detox plays a vital role in recovery — it clears substances from the body, helps manage withdrawal symptoms, and restores medical stability. Yet detox alone doesn’t address the emotional, psychological, or behavioral roots of addiction.

Once detox ends, many men face a vulnerable period: cravings return, motivation fades, and uncertainty sets in. Without structured follow-up care, relapse risk increases dramatically. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), people who fail to enter treatment within two weeks of completing detox are significantly more likely to relapse.

That’s why Healing Pines focuses on continuity — ensuring that men don’t lose the progress they’ve made. As soon as detox is complete, our admissions team helps arrange direct transfer into residential treatment, providing immediate structure, safety, and support.

Sober October: Keeping the Momentum Going

Each year, thousands of men participate in Sober October, using the month to step back, reset habits, and experience life without substances. For many, it’s a personal challenge — for others, it’s the first time they’ve felt the clarity that comes with sobriety.

But Sober October isn’t just a month; it can be a launchpad for long-term recovery. If you used October to reflect on your drinking or drug use, or you recently completed detox, now is the time to build on that progress.

Sober October shows what’s possible; residential treatment makes it sustainable.

At Healing Pines, we help men move beyond temporary abstinence and into deeper transformation — with therapy, structure, and daily accountability that turns awareness into action.

Next Step

What Detox Does — and What Comes Next

Detox addresses physical dependence. It allows the body to stabilize, but it doesn’t teach coping skills or heal emotional wounds. That’s where residential treatment comes in.

Detox Residential Treatment
Manages withdrawal symptoms
Addresses emotional & behavioral patterns
Restores physical health
Restores psychological balance
Short-term medical stabilization
Long-term life transformation
Typically 3–10 days
Typically 30–90 days

Healing Pines bridges that gap. As soon as a client completes detox, our team ensures a smooth, direct transition into a safe and supportive residential setting — avoiding any downtime where relapse could occur.

The leadership and staff were committed to my success.

Paul is a man of integrity which flows through his team. I have been to other recovery programs and HPR stands far above them all. The small group structure offers a more intimate and personalized experience. This was so much more beneficial to my recovery than facilities preaching a "one-size-fits-all" solution to larger and fragmented groups. It was like having personal and knowledgeable therapists dedicated to me for a full month! They went out of their way to understand the root of my challenges and construct a path for improvement that is unique and relatable to me. This was a huge benefit!

Jay C

It saved my life, in every sense.

I spent a month at Healing Pines Recovery. The actual location itself is unreal. A beautiful cabin lodge, with gorgeous scenery. The rooms are large, queen beds, very comfortable! Great bathrooms with great showers! There is a pool table, slam jam, (Christine! 😉 frisbee golf, and daily access to a nearby gym. The property also has a pickle ball court that was used daily, Zoey the counselor beat us men constantly!

Clay M

My experience with Healing Pines Recovery has been wonderful.

My husband was their client, and they helped him be able to help himself. He is doing amazing! I think the combination of counseling, physical labor, meditation, AA, and just the beauty of the place itself all had a very positive impact on him. They really cared about him, and that did not stop just because he came home. Also they have counseling for the families and it has really helped me a lot. Heather is awesome! I thank God that we had them in our lives when we were most vulnerable.

Susan M

We wanted to share our gratitude to the staff.

Our son was under the care of Healing Pines recently and we wanted to share our gratitude to the staff. There were many challenges in his pursuing treatment, and thankfully Paul and Heather C helped us navigate all of them skillfully with patience and compassion.

You'll get your life back!

Healing Pines Recovery is/was instrumental in setting me up for long term success in my recovery journey. I've been to treatment centers in the past and HPR is nothing like anything I've attended before. They're very small, intimate, and hands-on approach to recovery was exactly what I was looking for when seeking treatment. I knew that a large, one size fits all program like those offered by many other treatment centers in Colorado wouldn't provide me with the help I desperately needed. Paul and his Team are incredible and I would highly recommend HPR to anyone who needs help starting their recovery journey. Big shout out to James for all of his guidance during my time at HPR. His grace, knowledge, understanding, and direction were/are key to my continued success in recovery. One HUGE piece of the puzzle I love is the after care I've received from HPR... I am in constant contact with Paul, James, and many other staff members through the their alumni programs and it has helped me so much with life after HPR. This program was truly a miracle in my life and I know it will be for many other men struggling with addiction and/or alcoholism. You'll get your life back!

Nicholas P

This is truly a great recovery facility.

My learning experience here was something I’ll take with me throughout my whole life. The staff here will always be a part of my family and I am beyond thankful for everything they have done and continue to do for my well-being.

Gunnar P

I can't speak more highly of Healing Pines Recovery & Addiction Center.

It is located in a beautiful Colorado location with lots of outdoor activities and fresh air. They have a very knowledgeable and professional staff that goes above and beyond to meet your needs.

Riley K

I couldn’t have been at a more amazing place to begin this journey.

Seriously an amazing place. Everything from how beautiful the house and the property it sits on down to every person staffed there was nothing less than perfect. More than highly recommended in every sense. If you’re reading this and trying to find the right place for treatment and recovery I would absolutely look no further. Everyone’s recovery is different and we all need a comfortable place with people we can trust through this battle, healing pines understood that everyone’s path is different and they 100% cater to that. I couldn’t have been any luckier with finding Healing Pines. I won’t go any deeper and start to thank everyone there individually, But I want to express my gratitude to everyone on the HEALING PINES TEAM. Without you all, my path in sobriety would not look anywhere near the way it looks today. Seriously from the bottom of my heart thank you!

“One of a Kind! Healing Pines is the only place you’ll EVER need! This was my first time in treatment and after a long hard look and lots of conversations with Paul, something just felt right about this place. I’m so glad i chose healing pines cause i couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. From the first day, all the way till my cone out, my experience was nothing short of amazing. The amount of activities, classes, fun, food, brotherhood and being around the most supportive staff ( on a personal level) was exactly what i was looking for. I now have tools, confidence and a whole new outlook on life that I’ll never forget. Paul and his staff have become family to me. I want to thank the entire team at HPR for changing my life in ways i could never do alone. Thank You!”

Maintaining Sobriety

Why Immediate Transition Matters

Even a short delay between detox and rehab can increase relapse risk.

By entering treatment immediately, men:

  • Maintain physical and emotional momentum
  • Stay connected to supportive professionals
  • Build structure and confidence early in recovery
  • Reinforce motivation before cravings resurface

Healing Pines Recovery ensures no gap in care. You’ll leave detox knowing exactly where you’re headed and what your next few days will look like.

Structured Days

A Day in the Next Phase of Recovery

At Healing Pines, structure brings peace. Each day includes a balanced mix of therapy, physical activity, and time for reflection.

Morning: Meditation, breakfast, and group therapy

Afternoon: Individual counseling, fitness or yoga, and experiential therapy outdoors

Evening: Dinner, mindfulness journaling, or fireside group discussion

Clients often describe this stage as when recovery starts to feel real — when they rediscover clarity, connection, and self-trust.
