What Are Dual Diagnosis Treatment Centers?

About half of all people who struggle with addiction have what’s known as a “dual diagnosis”. This simply means they also suffer from a mental health disorder that affects their substance abuse. Mental illnesses like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression often occur alongside drug or alcohol addiction. Dual diagnosis treatment centers help clients with these co-occurring disorders manage their combined illnesses through medication and behavioral therapies.

The most commonly abused substances among people with dual diagnoses are alcohol, marijuana and cocaine. At Healing Pines Recovery, we understand that dealing with a dual diagnosis can feel overwhelming.  Like other dual diagnosis treatment centers, we offer the gold standard of care for clients struggling with addiction alongside another mental disorder.

How is Healing Pines Different?

Healing Pines Recovery was created to offer the highest quality of care in an exclusive, intimate setting. We are unique in that we specialize in treating men with SUD (Substance use Disorder and/or Alcoholism) and provide these services to a group of no more than 8 men at a time. This allows us to tailor the program to meet each individual’s needs.

Our boutique-style center is located on a lush 40 acres, surrounded by ponderosa pines and wildlife. This is a safe place to dig deep into underlying issues driving addiction. The privacy and individualized care are unparalleled. We partner with each patient and their family to provide the tools necessary to ensure longevity in recovery.

Reclaim and Reconnect

At Healing Pines Recovery what you see is what you get. The relationships formed are real. The conversations and experiences are real. Unlike many treatment centers, we not only care for our patients during their stay with us, but we also continue the relationship after they have moved on to the next phase in their recovery. We genuinely care about the success of every person that enters our program. We are in the business of saving lives.

Healing Pines Recovery is the first step to reconnecting with yourself, your life, and your family. It’s time to reclaim number one – you.

Colorado Substance Abuse Disorder Treatment

Healing Pines is a Colorado substance use disorder treatment facility that offers inpatient addiction treatment for men. Clients receive intensive treatment and therapy in a beautiful log home located in the scenic small town of Elizabeth, Colorado. Healing Pines’ licensed addiction counselors are trained in the latest therapeutic treatments for substance use disorders. Clients at our in-patient program receive both individual and group therapy, with additional support for men that have a dual diagnosis. Our Colorado substance use disorder treatment program helps clients to identify the causes of their addiction and develop successful strategies for recovery. We believe that a strong bond between client and therapist, known as the therapeutic alliance, is a critical part of recovery from a substance use disorder.

About In-Patient Colorado Substance Abuse Disorder Treatment

Our in-patient rehab is a live-in program; Healing Pines clients receive supervised treatment and structured care to help them overcome their addiction. Most substance use disorder treatment programs last anywhere from a few weeks to a number of months, and are typically followed by continuing care in the client’s home community.

Treatment for a substance use disorder combines group and individual therapy sessions. Our licensed counselors teach the skills needed to become sober and manage life after rehab without turning to drugs or alcohol. We offer a range of behavioral therapies that work together to help our clients find and maintain sobriety. These include:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) supports addiction recovery by helping clients reframe negative thoughts and feelings and regain control over their lives. This important therapy also helps dual-diagnosis clients, because it’s a proven treatment method for trauma, depression, anxiety and OCD.  Click here to contact us about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Colorado.

Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) is an effective treatment for patterns of impulsive behavior and intense emotions. This therapy helps our clients develop coping skills and replace unhealthy behaviors with positive, healthy ones. DBT combines individual therapy, group sessions and coaching throughout our Colorado substance abuse disorder treatment.  Click here to contact us about Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in Colorado.

Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR) is a widely accepted treatment for PTSD that has helped millions of people. It produces rapid change without upsetting the client’s emotional state. Our Colorado substance abuse disorder treatment is performed by highly trained therapists who specialize in EMDR Therapy. Animal-Assisted Therapy

Clients enjoy animal-assisted therapy at Healing Pines’ Colorado substance abuse disorder treatment programs. They’ll spend time with horses, lamas, goats and other animals, and volunteer at local animal shelters. During Equine Therapy patients have guided interactions with trained horses, facilitated by a professional. Working with animals is a fun, healing activity that helps clients develop key life skills like accountability, responsibility, confidence, self-control, and problem-solving.

Horticultural Therapy

Our Colorado substance abuse disorder treatment program focuses on getting clients outside and working with their hands. Gardening, or horticultural therapy, is a mindfulness exercise that promotes peace of mind and mental clarity. Horticultural therapy improves memory, cognitive abilities, task initiation, language skills, and socialization, helping to support a sustained recovery.

Exercise and Nutrition

Balanced nutrition and exercise are the cornerstones of a recovery that will last. Our healthy approach helps to increase energy and regulate mood so clients stay positive throughout recovery. Developing a healthy brain and body is the key to Healing Pines’ clients becoming the best they can be, in recovery and in life.
